THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK "When I was on my own, in the midst of my job search, it was easy to get caught up in unproductive activities like clicking on job boards or blasting out volumes of resumes. Having you as my coach was like having an island of reason and objectivity...you helped me focus and gave me a greater sense of confidence to pursue the opportunities that were genuinely meaningful." *************************************************** PROCRASTINATION In November when I wrote about procrastination I received so many emails in response that it was obvious I had touched on a topic that affects lots of us. So why do we procrastinate? It is not about being lazy. We procrastinate for a couple of reasons: Fear of failure, "they'll see how little I know about this project: Fear of success, "if I get this promotion I'll never have a minute for myself: Control, "it's their priority, not mine". Understanding what is holding you back is the first step to break the pattern. By the way, if you would like a copy of my 10 Tips to Avoid Procrastinating, send me an email and I'll forward the tips. *************************************************** ALEX'S LEMONADE STAND Recently I was filing some papers and out fell the small brochure I picked up at an amazing exhibit at the Philadelphia Flower Show this past spring. The exhibit honored Alex Scott, founder of Alex's Lemonade Stand for Pediatric Cancer Research. Diagnosed before her first birthday, Alex had an aggressive form of childhood cancer and at age four she decided to do something to help find a cure. She opened a lemonade stand with the idea of donating the proceeds to the hospital that was treating her. Word spread and in the remaining four years of her life she had raised 1.4 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. Alex is now gone but her cause lives on. Check out her website and you will be blown away by the courage and inspiration of this young person. www.alexslemonade.com. *************************************************** PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT COACHING What is Performance Enhancement Coaching? It's how I can help you or your company save money. You may have an employee who has great potential, yet one who could benefit from one on one attention. Think of it as personalized training. Performance enhancement coaching allows your employee (or even you) to develop specified skill areas faster. Communication, leadership, team building, and being better organized are only a few areas that can be developed. You benefit because the employee is ready for expanded responsibilities sooner. The employee benefits and is delighted because you have demonstrated that you value them and view them as a key leader in your organization ***************************************************
FINAL THOUGHT OR TWO How does a project get to be a year behind schedule? One day at a time. -Fred Brooks Much of the stress that people feel doesn't come from having too much to do. It comes from not finishing what they started. -David Allen *************************************************** Take some time to enjoy summer!
