Oct. call just announced!

This week’s Clutter Challenge should you choose to accept it is to create 5 new files, today. Do not attempt to make more than five right away, start small, get five done and you can always make more.

How many pieces of paper or clippings from the newspaper, magazines or catalogs do you have cluttering tabletops? How great would it be to contain them in a file?

Your new files DO NOT have to be archive files such as your homeowner’s policy or bank statements, although they can be.

Try focusing on the pending files, such as:

Holiday gift ideas
Back to school papers per child or school
Incoming bills
Children’s sports schedules
Vacation ideas
To read
To file
Recipes
Receipts
Coupons
Bake sale
And so on

Many times we leave papers out so we won’t forget where we put them. By starting out with a few files, you will quickly gain confidence when you need a paper and can find it.

You don’t have to make perfect files right now. If you are uncomfortable committing to a file name simply use a post it note to write on and you can consolidate files or change the names later on. Stick the post it note to the inside back of the file and leave a little sticking up as the tab to write on.

And where to keep these files? How about a tabletop file box for the kitchen counter, a decorative basket on the dining room table or a hanging folder container hung on the inside of a pantry door?

Life gets much simpler when you can find what you need when you need it- this is a great start! Take action today, you won’t regret it.

Happy organizing, Jamie
