Bathroom Clutter Cleared in 10 Simple Steps

No matter what size bathroom you have in your home we all have the same problems. Jumbled messes in drawers, odd storage under the sink and closets that are too small!

If you’re tired of things falling out of cabinets, wasting time looking for stuff and vanity tops piled with stuff then I invite you to take this week’s clutter challenge: get your bathroom in order!

Here’s how:
1. Grab 2 containers/baskets/boxes and label them: used often and not so often

2. Take the garbage can with you and sort

3. Place each item into one of the 3 containers (if you have to think about it longer than a minute toss it)

4. Clear the vanity, closets, drawers and medicine cabinet (note: once clean you can add drawer dividers, shop at home, box lids work great)

5. Wipe all the surfaces clean while they are empty

6. Replace the items from the “used often” container first,
these should be stored in places that are easy to reach, remember to keep like items together (zip lock bags are great for this)

7. Store the items not used as often in more difficult to reach areas

8. Label any containers you are using as storage so everyone knows what’s inside and where to put things back

9. Place decorative items and daily essentials within reach on the vanity

10. Enjoy your newly organized bathroom

Short on space try?

1. Wall mounted cabinets
2. Carts on wheels
3. Hooks on back of door
4. Shower caddies
5. Glue a magnet inside medicine cabinet to hold tweezers, scissors, or other metal items
6. Wall or inside cabinet door mounted organizers (for hair dryers etc)
7. Under sink shelves that bend around the pipes
8. Use space over toilet by adding a stacked cabinet
9. Consider installing a shower dispenser on the wall to dispense liquid soap, shampoo and conditioner
10. Install recede cabinets into the walls so they sit flush and do not take up space in the room

Things to consider:

1. Is the item best stored in the bathroom? Sometimes the answer is no. You may paint your nail in the kitchen or brush your daughters hair in the living room. Store the items where you use them.

2. Are you storing too much in case you have guests? Box it and keep it elsewhere.

3. Do you really need it?

4. Try zip locks bags to container items like makeup and hair accessories.

5. If you travel pack duplicates in bags and keep them in your luggage.
