How to End Car Clutter

This week I want to conquer car clutter. So many of us just spent time traveling in the car for the Thanksgiving holiday. Now we're in the car for errands and shopping. We might even find ourselves traveling to more holiday festivities.

So let's make the car as clutter free as possible, ready?

Here are 5 things you can do today!

1. Collect and toss all the trash. Put in one or more garbage containers for small trash and make a new household rule that whatever is brought into the car is take out at the end of the drive no matter what.

Note: you might make trash dumping more convenient by making sure there is a house garbage can or garbage bag near where you park to dump large trash into.

2. Slide a CD holder onto the sun visor, not for CD's but for store coupons and notes to self.

3. Give everyone in the family, including you, a small box (with a lid) or a tote bag to easily carry out items for the trip. This is where they can store a snack, a game or something else fun for the car rise. Be sure the box or tote goes back in the house at the end of the trip.

4. Maximize the glove box. There is a lot of wasted space in there! Store car manuals and other not so commonly used items in the trunk so you can use the handy space for napkins, electronic cords, sunglasses etc.

5. Set up an ER kit with items like old sneakers in case you need to walk and are wearing heels, a flashlight (with the batteries stored in it upside down to avoid accidentally wearing them out) flares and so on. And while you're at it take a peak at your spare tire and jack.

With these simple tips in place your next car ride will be smoother and you'll have more peace on mind. Happy holidays! Jamie

PS Avoid having your keys slip out of your hands when you're busy carrying other things. Try a stretch coil bracelet for your keys, simply slide them onto your wrist and they're right where you need them!
