Save Time with Your Cell Phone

This is a busy week for most of us, so this week’s challenge is short and sweet plus it will save you lots of time.

For this week’s challenge try programming five commonly dialed phone numbers into your cell phone. Instead of spending time looking up phone numbers spend a few moments entering them into your phone so you have them ready to dial.

What numbers should you enter? Your favorite store so you can call for holiday hours and to check if they have what you need in stock. Or maybe your favorite restaurant for calling in a take-out order.

To really save time program in the phone number for the reference desk at your local library. Reference librarians are a huge source of information and they can look things up for you while you are away from your computer. Don’t feel shy to call; I’m on a first name basis with my local reference librarian, she’s saved me countless hours!

That’s it for this week. Try this challenge to save yourself time and frustration. See you next Monday with another helpful idea. Until then have a clutter-free week, Jamie

PS The cell phone is only helpful if you can find it and it is charged. Might I suggest giving your phone a home where you have the plug so you can put it there on your way in the house and grab it on your way out.

Don't miss any of the great tips, click here for the archives

In addition to my car clutter tips I received some wonderful ideas from readers that I have to share. Sue, Kim, Georgia and Claire thanks for sending them in!

Hi Jamie, Just read your car clutter challenge. The ideas are great. For the ER kit, it's also a good idea to include bug spray, band-aids, blanket and sunscreen. Have a great, snowy day. -Sue

Hi Jamie, Another thing I do is keep a large Ziploc bag in my glove compartment labeled "Directions" to important locations. Many times they're Mapquest printouts, but it saves me from having to print them again!

Also, I always keep a spare change of clothes for each of my twins in the truck, along with an umbrella and towel. Happy Holidays! Kim

One thing that people can do is carry "hand sanitizers" in the pouch-type containers that can lay flat in the glove box. These help when grandbeauties with sticky, icky fingers finish their M&M's while in granny's car. –Georgia

ABOUT THE CAR KEYS. I HAVE MANY KEYS, AND MY CAR KEYS. I USE A CLASP AND UNHOOK THOSE OTHER THAN CARKEYS AND THROW THEM ON THE FLOOR OF MY FRONT SEAT ALONGSIDE MY PURSE, AND COVER IT UP WITH A SPARE COAT. WHEN I SHOP I ALWAYS HAVE POCKETS FOR CASH, PLASTIC, A PEN AND POCKET SIZED SPIRAL NOTEPAD. NO PURSE. THEY JUST DON'T EARN THEIR KEEP, THEY'RE MORE LIKE A NUISANCE. –Claire
