Room to Create
I was inspired to write this week's clutter challenge when I opened my bottom dresser drawer and found a paint by number landscape kit. I looked at it for a moment wondering who put that in the dresser drawer. Then I remembered I'd bought it on sale a few months a ago planning to find the time to do it. Well the fact that it was still in my drawer and that I'd forgotten about it is a dead give away that no, I have not started it yet. Once I remembered how it got there I felt guilty for buying something and not using it, even though it was on sale it cost money and by not using it I cost myself money in the long run. And then I felt bad about not finding the time to be creative. I know for me and for so many people I talk with we all have a creative juice but sometimes we're so busy doing day to day stuff we never use let our creativity out. What have you wanted to do? Paint a landscape like I planned? Scrapbook? Knit? Quilt? Or maybe write a book? Today I realized that I was never going to find the time to start by paint by numbers project, I had to make the time. So I set a timer for 18 minutes and pulled everything out of the box. I let the phone go to voice mail, I stopped checking the email in box and I pushed aside the pile of incoming mail after all I needed a flat surface to work on. I simply put that green pencil to the paper and got lost in the moment of coloring in the tree, it was wonderful! I felt free and more energized than I have in weeks. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my day to day life, but the power of creating a important. What have you been putting off creating? Painting? Beading a bracelet? This week your challenge is to make the time and the space to allow your creativity to flow. You may feel like you can't create until you organize more, but the reverse is true. When you take a little time to start your creative project that is fuel for your body which then jump starts the organizing. You can do this! I can't wait for you to tell me what you're going to create! Oh and if it's a book you've been waiting to write I hope you'll join me for the Draft Done by Memorial Day Class By Phone here are the details
