Save your spot for the call

Curious about what the call is all about?

Many of you have called or emailed asking for more information about the monthly call. If you have not been a part of these calls in the past then the idea may seem a little unusual.

The best way I can explain it is to think of a large conference call. A few minutes before 9pm est the phone line opens and I dial in. Then you and whoever else wants to dials in and joins me. I’m notified as a new caller joins the line and I say hello. You are then welcome to say your first name and where you are calling from.

I usually start the call asking people to share a success. An example of a success would be someone saying they finally stored away the winter clothes and pulled out the spring ones. Or someone sharing they finally made the time to start looking for a job they love.

After we share successes I offer a few ideas and take questions. The hour goes quickly as we talk, share and learn. You are welcome to stay quiet or to chime in, no pressure. You can mute your phone by pushing *6.

Although the call runs from 9-10pm est you may call in late all I ask is you join quietly and listen to catch up to where we are. You may also hang up early should you need to.

And probably the most frequently asked question is why do I do this at no charge? I have to say that I enjoy these calls as much as everyone else. It is my way of staying in touch with everyone. I can’t possibly have a chance to travel to meet everyone who has been touched by reading my books, but this call allows us a way to share. We have callers from as far away as China, Australia, and England and every state in the US.

This is truly one of those times that you have to experience it for yourself; I hope you’ll join me tomorrow night.

Let's Shred Something...

Do you have a “to be shred” pile? While sorting the incoming mail it can be tempting to put junk mail down to be shred later. But with the amount of junk mail we get that pile can grow quickly.

Plus you might have a backlog of papers to go through or a filing cabinet to empty and that makes for a lot of papers to be shred.

So this week for our clutter challenge I’m suggesting we shred something. Even if you have a huge pile doing just ten minutes of shredding can make a dent.

If you know of a local teenager he or she may be willing to sit and shred for you.

And then there are community shred events going on! These community events are freeand open to county residents. You bring the papers ready to be shred and can watch as your papers go through industrial size machines on the spot!

Do not wait to gather all your papers to shred before starting, if you do you run the risk of never starting. Instead gather a good amount and shred, and then go gather more, there will always be more.

You can find a local community shred event local to you by searching online. Simply search “shred event + your town.”

Oh and if you happen to be all caught up on paper but have other stuff to toss try logging onto earth911.com to check out local hazardous waste drop offs near you.

Imagine how great you’ll feel after taking a small step towards clearing out the junk. Until next Monday have a clutter free week.

Happy shredding, Jamie
