Emotions are Information

This month I would like to offer a quote from a wonderful book, The Tao of Equus, A Women's Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse.by Linda Kohanov (Linda and Spirit are pictured on the right)

"....to horses, emotion is neither good nor bad; it's simply information. As animals that are preyed upon in nature, it behooves them to know when another herd member is feeling afraid or playful, angry or in pain, depressed or content. Though they ultimately strive for well-being in their relationships, horses don't consider so-called positive emotions any more important then the negative ones humans routinely try to suppress. To these animals, the ability to intuit fear in a distant herd memeber and act on this feeling without hesitation is a lifesaving skill. Their innate aptitude for resonating with another being's trust, joy, or confidence is a life enhancing skill."

Over the past three years the wisdom in the Tao of Equus has helped me heal my relationship with horses (and many humans). Linda's words of wisdom helped me to bravely step foward and own my truth about the powerful connections we can have with horses and what they have to teach us. I feel blessed to have Linda coming to Colorado in early June to speak and offer a very special program. See details below.

In this three-day workshop, author, horse trainer, and lecturer Linda Kohanov will explore ways that horse wisdom can help humans enjoy more balanced, creative and authentic lives. This is a survey-style lecture/demonstration workshop designed to introduce people to the various theories and activities used in equine experiential learning.
