Dedicated to Wild Horses

I recently had the privilege to have a phone conversation with Ginger Kathrens of The Cloud Foundation. This month I dedicate my newsletter to Ginger, the wild horses and her dedication to them.

Ginger Kathrens has been filming a wild horse stallion, named Cloud (pictured on the right, photo is copyright and compliments of Ginger Kathrens), from the day of his birth. His almost pure white color and he regal bearing and feisty personality made him stand out from all the other horses. Her Award-Winning PBS series captures Cloud's challenges in becoming a mature stallion with a family band of his own.

The Cloud Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to preventing the extinction of Cloud's herd through education, media events and programming, and public involvement. The Foundation is also determined to protect other wild horse herds on public lands, especially isolated herds with unique characteristics and historical significance. Ginger is one of the most dedicated and well-informed individuals on the matter of the wild horses on public lands and how these herds are being managed by the BLM.

Currently there are thousands of horses that have been removed from our public lands, never to be free again. The rate in which these herds are being reduced is radical and dramatic and is of great concern in the preservation of herds and genetic lineage. Please read informative articles about this at:
