Winter in the Rockies
For the last two weeks we have had very cold temperatures here in Colorado. This morning it was 14 degrees below zero in Aspen. How do the horses do it?! Those who don't wear blankets grow a thick coat of hair. Moon's coat is about three inches deep and dappled with caramel colors.

How do we humans do it? We stay in, or we copycat the hair idea. For those of us who don't want to grow hair, we wear DOWN! Lucky for me, I was gifted a Patagonia ranch style down coat for Christmas this year. I have worn it everyday to see the horses. In addition, Moon's body heat keeps me warm. (See above photo)

Horse Power
1. (noun) A standard measure of power defined as the energy required to lift 33,000 pounds at the rate of one foot per minute or 55 pounds at the rate of ten feet per second.
2. (informal) The extraordinary capacity of a horse to elevate the human spirit.

Even with the freezing cold temperatures we can’t forget how quickly spring and summer is coming. I am optimistic that warm weather is just around the corner. Plan ahead to attend a transformational program!

Mustang News

Corazon de la Montana
Many of you have been asking about my mustang Corazon and how he is doing in training. Corazon has accepted a rider and is slowly working through his blocks with the saddle. I am excited for him and to share with you his progress. Please keep your eyes open for my Horse Blog that is due to be posted mid-January with lots of detailed information. To the right is Corazon being ridden by Hugh Colby, a wonderful trainer from Australia.

Pryor Mountain Mustangs
Ginger Kathrens continues her efforts to preserve the Pryor Mountain Mustang herd (Corazon’s home) in Montana. Please read some very important news about this herd and the proposed plans of the BLM. Take action soon to have your opinion and voice heard.
