Living Out Your Dreams

Welcome to the latest edition of Living Out Your Dreams. It is good to be back. We have been on sabbatical from writing this newsletter over the past year. Many of you have inquired about where we have been and we appreciate that.

The time and energy is right to begin again. The format and authorship of the newsletter will be changing. The newsletter will be shorter with more bulleted points and ideas that you can read quickly and the style will be more coach-like with tips for moving forward. I know you get inundated with email and want to you to get information you can use and apply quickly and easily.

This newsletter will now be single authored by Stacey Mayo. Deb Elkin, mind-body therapist and previous co-author, and I remain good friends and she may submit guest articles from time to time. Deb wrote many great articles in the past and those can be accessed on the archives on my website, http://www.balancedliving.com. Thank you Deb! If you wish to contact Deb, you can reach her at delkin@mindspring.com

Featured in this issue is an article on How to Succeed in any Economy. There is also a special offer for subscribers which appears at the end of the article. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone who might be interested. If you wish to subscribe or unsubscribe, please follow the directions at the bottom of the page.

Warm regards,
Stacey

FEATURE ARTICLE: HOW TO SUCCEED IN ANY ECONOMY
by Stacey Mayo

Since success is really internal and not determined by external events, one measure of success is how happy you are regardless of what the economic yardstick shows. The following are steps to increase both internal and external success:

Spend some time or work with a coach to define what success means to you.
  • Turn off the news. The news tends to over-dramatize things and replay negative events countless times (how many times did you need to see a plane hit the WTC?). This breeds fear. Fear contracts us and stops the flow.

  • Focus on and express gratitude for things in your life that are good.

  • Create a goal of what you really, really want and would create if the economy was not this way.

  • Get determined to meet the goal despite the economy. Commit to it. Look for opportunities and ways to meet it.

  • Make yourself invaluable. Where can you add value in your career? In life? Let others know your ambitions and ask for their help. Determine what needs in the marketplace or your company fit with your desires and abilities Tweak your dream to go with the flow; not against it. What do people need/want now? Position yourself well for when the turnaround comes.

  • Write out your dreams (big and small) as if they had already happened. Notice what you are inspired to do and act on it accordingly.

  • Enroll other people in your goal whose strengths complement yours and bring them on the team. Do not try to do it by yourself. That is the hard way and we are into ease.

  • Create multiple streams of income. That way you are not dependent on any one and if one dries up, you still have others. Make some of them passive (i.e., produce income even when you are not working.)

  • Detach from having to have it look a certain way and be open to it coming from any direction. Keep focused on the goal, rather than the lack of it. Have fun! This may happen in your time frame or it may take longer or something even better may happen along the way. It is all perfect.

  • Be grateful for and do a victory dance for every little success along the way. Have fun and trust that it will all work out in the long run. Do not sweat the small stuff or the big stuff along the way.

  • SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY

I am creating an audio tape set on Living Out Your Dreams which will include interviews with people who are living their dreams and coaching sessions with people who are facing challenges in making their dreams a reality. If you or anyone you know is living their dreams and would like to share their story with others and be recorded for purposes of these tapes, please contact me. Send an email with a brief description of your situation to me and type "Tape recording" in the header. Please note I will only be able to respond to those situations that look like a good fit. Send your email to coach@balancedliving.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
