A new year has started and it is hard to believe that February is here already. Don't let this year get away from you without making some dreams come true. We are up to some big things this year and hope this newsletter inspires you to move forward with your own dreams. As our new years gift to you, we have some fre.e offers for our subscribers including a teleclass and a fre.e special report. In previous editions, I talked about creating mental and financial safety nets before you leap. In this issue, I talk about how to get past any fears and self-doubts that are standing in your way to making your dreams come true. Creating an Emotional Safety Net for Your Dreams I often refer to people who put down or ridicule your dreams as the Dream Squashers. However, the truth is, that our own fear or self doubt is biggest Dream Squasher of them all. If you are feeling fear, anxiety or self-doubt, you may find yourself frozen rather than moving forward to gain the knowledge or money needed to live out your dream. (We talked about knowledge and money in previous articles posted at http://www.balancedliving.com/cblnews.html). Or your may find yourself running into continuous obstacles or delays.
Here are five steps you can take to begin working through the fears and self-doubts that come up along the way.
- 1. Get grounded in why you want something. Your why has to be important enough and big enough to propel you through all the obstacles and fears that are going to come up. Write down your why and refer to it often.
My why for investing in real estate is so that I have residual income, which will give me more time and freedom to market my book and do other things I want. So far I have 2 contracts signed that I think will go through. My why motivates me to move forward even when my fears come up. - 2. If you are questioning yourself, others will too. Self-doubt is a dream squasher. Get clear on why you are the right person to do this dream and why you or others need it. Take out out a piece of paper and write all the reasons why you are the right person to do this as if you were selling yourself and your dream to someone else.
Many of you know that I have written a book, Live Out Your Dreams: True Stories of People Who Are Making Their Dreams Come True. Recently I decided to have the book published rather than self-publishing. This meant I needed to write a book proposal. In starting to write the book proposal, I had to answer all those questions about why I am the person to write this, why there is a need for this book, etc. In getting clear on the answers to these questions, I became more confident than ever in my book and now I visualize it as a bestseller. I am more excited than ever about bringing it out to the world. - 3. Focus on the positive outcome you want, rather than what if it fails. Fear of failure is a common fear that gets in the way. Say to yourself, what if I do? Rather than what if I dont? Allow yourself to feel all the excitement of making it happen.
- 4. What if I do? Fear of success is another common fear that is less often recognized. But if you dont get excited when you say, What if I do? then you may have a fear of success or you may not know what the next steps are. Notice what comes up when you ask yourself this question. When you are conscious of what your thoughts are, you can deal with them. Get support in working though any fears you may have.
- 5. No man or woman is an island and no big dream can be achieved alone. If you are feeling alone in your dream or need help in a certain aspect, ask yourself, where do I need help and who is the best person to help me? Let go and wait for the answer to show up. Youll know when the right person or system comes along. Act on it. The best way to work through emotional blocks it to have a coach and team in place who will give you unconditional support.
