Welcome to all the new subscribers. Last week we sent out a survey to our subscriber base. Thanks to everyone who completed that survey. We had a great response and I really appreciate your input. I thought it would be fun to share some of the results with you and have included them here. If you participated and included your email address, your address will be entered into a drawing for the prizes we listed. The drawings will be held this week and winners will be notified shortly and announced in the next newsletter.
Warmly,
Stacey
And the Survey Says...
96% of you have dreams that are yet to be fulfilled. Yeah for the dreamers of the world!!!
14% of you are already living your ultimate career. Yahoooo!!! Give yourself a big cheer. We totally applaud you.
Of those who are not living their ultimate career dream yet, a full 2/3 are in action. At first I was surprised to see the figure this high but when I took out the responses from those who are self-employed, the numbers dropped considerably.
Fifty percent of those folks who are employed by someone else are in action towards their ultimate career while 91% of those who are self-employed are taking steps towards their dream. Perhaps once you take the first step, it is easier to take the next. Of course, once you are self-employed, action is necessary to sustain you as well.
There was a difference between men and women as well. Nearly all the men are in action (96%) towards their dream while only 60% of the women who responded are taking steps right now. Interesting! Hmmmm.
As far as the biggest thing in the way of your dream, your own thoughts and beliefs came in tops in all groups except for men, who said the biggest thing in their way is lack of clarity. I thought that was interesting as well. So it would seem that when men have clarity, they are more likely to be in action, while women are more likely to get stopped by their own thoughts and beliefs. Actually, I take that back, men were in action regardless of whether they had clarity. That may or may not be a good thing.
The most common second place answer was lack of time, except among those employed by someone else who ranked fear of failing #2 behind your own thoughts and beliefs. Quite a few of you listed your current job as what is in the way of you moving forward.
Again, thanks for your input. We will look for ways to address your needs in future newsletters and programs.
Note: 80% of respondents were female and 20% of respondents were male.
Dreams from Our Community
I loved reading your dreams. It warmed my heart to hear them and I found it inspiring so I thought I would share just a few with you. It is nice to get a sense of who is a part of this community. Please don't worry if yours isn't listed or isn't as clear as some of those below. There simply isn't room to list all of them. If you need clarity, these may inspire some thoughts or action for you. They certainly inspired me.
- To create and facilitate to my satisfaction a program that will change women's lives and the lives of those around them and be paid handsomely for it, and have it be easy and fulfilling.
- To become fluent in American Sign Language and teach elementary age students at a school for the deaf in a vibrant and interesting community.
- To convert a barn into an antique store in a semi-rural area
- To empower American business
- To become a world-renowned strategy guru
- To own a successful "idea factory" where I license my ideas to manufacturers
- To have a song published by a major Nashville publisher (ultimately it would be great if that song were a #1 hit being sung by someone fabulous like the Dixie Chicks)
- To catch Osama Bin Laden; To make a difference in other matters of global importance and in the lives of individuals who matter to me
- To spend my time between France and Atlanta, continuing to teach, lead trip, while also beginning to work on some type of artistic pursuit.
- To franchise a successful business I created that provides work assignments to unemployed and underemployed, low income, smart people - www.handyande.com
Owning your own business, having balance and publishing a book were mentioned frequently.
If Not Now, Then When?
For those of you who are not in action, what are you waiting for? Life is short. We have seen one disaster after another in all different parts of the world. All of those people who were ravaged by the Tsunami or who lost their lives on 9/11 thought they had forever too. Take advantage of the time you have on this planet and make the most of it. Tell someone you love them, plan a trip to see new parts of the globe, have more fun, take steps to leave a legacy and make your work day count. Get unconditional loving support if you need it and get in action.
