Welcome to the August issue of Living Out Your Dreams and a special welcome to over 7,500 new subscribers from all over the world. We have people joining us from Malaysia, India, Holland, Austria, UK, Dubai, Iran, Canada and the US, just to name a few. Most of you have joined as a result of viewing the Dream Movie (http://www.thedreammovie.com). If you have not seen the Dream Movie yet, I suggest you take 3 minutes to watch it right now. It is my gift to you. And please pass on the link and share the movie with those you love.

I have been touched beyond belief at the feedback I've gotten from you. The movie hit home with people in all situations -- from those with health issues who were inspired to go on, to young people in their 20's just starting their dreams, to those in their 50's, 60's, even 80's who have started or are starting new careers, to those who have big dreams and those who yearn to dream again. I've had requests to show it at high schools, colleges and churches. Such is the power of the dream. We all have them, sometimes we supress them, but deep inside, we all have them.

Here is what some people are saying about the Dream Movie in terms of what it has meant for them. Write me back and tell me what it provided for you. I cannot respond to everyone but I do want to hear from you.

"Truly spirit relaxing and soul energizing 3 minutes."
Regina

"That movie is beautiful! While I was reading it, it was making me think--why we can't achieve what we want in life? And the end of the movie I knew that when we have faith and determination, no one or nothing can stop us from dreaming and achieving what we dream of in life! It’s never too late for anything and never ever late to start dreaming and achieving!!"
Fatema

"You will never know how much this particular "dream" e-mail has meant to me. I'm 55 and facing a divorce in a few weeks and I'm realizing it is my opportunity to finally live the dreams I've kept hidden. It is amazing how the doors have opened up, with only the "want and wish" to make them come true!! Thanks for the inspiration. Life is amazing and so full of surprises!! I'll keep this one to refer to often."
Kathy

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Dream Movie...It really hit home!! I have had a book ready to publish and I have a million and one excuses NOT to do it. You have really helped me to put the whole process into perspective and Guess what?? I am going to get on it this week!! I just needed that push off the "diving board" so to speak... Thanks a bunch for providing that push. Thankfully yours."
Toni Ferrara

"We all have two voices talking within ourselves constantly. One that tells us ‘Yes, I can’ and one that tells us ‘No, you can’t.’ Watching this movie strengthens that part of us that say you can do anything you set your heart on. Watch and Dream BIG!"
Zev Saftlas, host of http://EmpoweringMessages.com

And that is the title of the new article this month, "Yes, I Can; No, You Can't"

Enjoy!

With warmest wishes,

Stacey

Yes I Can; No You Can't
by Stacey Mayo

How often do you find yourself vacillating between one of those two statements? We all do it. We swing between periods of time -- sometimes they're only fleeting moments -- of believing we can make our dreams come true to thinking it is totally impossible. Now I can hear some of you thinking, "but I don't even have a dream." I would argue, "Yes, you do." You dream about having a career you love or something different in your life or you wouldn't be reading this newsletter. You may not know exactly what it is that you want yet, but still you yearn for something better. That is the first step. But I digress ...

So why do we vacillate back and forth like this between "Yes, I can" and "No, you can't?" Well, why do we think negatively about anything? Okay, you are not supposed to answer a question with a question. But think about it this way...the mind grabs onto whatever information we feed it. If we took in a lot of negative thoughts over time about what isn't possible, then whenever we hear something that resonates with those old beliefs, we grab on to it like it's the truth. (rent the movie "What the Bleep.. " for a more technical explanation of this) Typically this all happens subconsciously so we are not even aware of it in the moment. You could be going along and everything is going great and then one thing goes wrong and you start to think, "I must have been crazy to ever think I could do this." And in a split second, all those good things you have accomplished just disappeared from your mind as you grabbed hold of that one negative situation and made it mean you should abandon your dream. Okay, I know none of you have ever experienced this. I certainly haven't. (grin) But just in case you do ...

So here is the yo yo syndrome. Something good happens in alignment with your dream and you exclaim, "Yes, I Can!" Something doesn't work out the way you wanted and you say or think, "No, You Can't," or you might tell yourself something like "I don't really want this dream" or a million other things to dissuade yourself from going forward.

So what should you do about it? Here are three suggestions:

  • One of the Key Success Principles from "I Can't Believe I Get Paid To Do This!" is Develop Your Resilience Muscle: Bounce Back From Setbacks. This is one of the most important skills you can learn and one of the key components of emotional intelligence. Because there will be some setbacks. And the bigger you dream, the bigger the challenges. While I love how the Dream Movie turned out, there were many challenges that came up in the production process. Luckily we overcame them. Additionally, my distribution center shut down just at the time that the Dream Movie was ready to be released. It put us on temporary hold, but then we went forward anyway and we manually shipped your book orders over the past week. So please excuse the handwritten envelopes. Now we are moving to yet another distribution center. Don't let the obstacles stop you. Learn to view the setbacks as temporary and move forward again. Keep saying, "Yes, I Can!"
  • Another thing that affects us is "time." Sometimes we set deadlines in our mind for the achievement of our dreams. We think it should have already happened. Well, the truth is, often dreams take longer than we think to come to fruition, especially the big ones. So don't let the idea that "time is running out" stop you. All we have is time. We might as well keep pursuing our dreams as long as we are alive. What better way to spend our time on this planet.
  • Lastly, it is essential to continuously feed the mind positive thoughts and information. Now when I say continuously, that means DAILY! When you find yourself focusing on the negative, shift it to something you can truly feel positive about. In addition, read inspirational and motivational success stories. Jim Rohn calls this "vitamins for the mind." I love that phrase. If you take vitamins, you don't take them once/year or once/month or once/week. You take them everyday. Well you need to take vitamins for the mind everyday also.
I try to read something positive everyday before I go to bed. It truly helps. This month try reading something positive or inspirational everyday and delete any negative sources of information from your ritual (yes this means the news). It will make a difference.

Here are some suggested vitamins for the mind:

Mind/Brain Research from an 87-year-old subscriber

Over the past week I have met many fascinating people who wrote to me after seeing the Dream Movie. One of these people was 87-year-old Genevieve Briggs.

Genevieve was as delighted to find someone of a younger generation who understood and taught about the power of our thoughts as I was to find someone of her generation who did the same. She offered to share some of her research and opinions with us. Note these are her opinions. If you wish to discuss them, please contact Genevieve directly. I have edited and abbreviated it for this newsletter but she offers her email address at the end if you want to know more.

Here is what Genevieve had to say:

While working as an office clerk at a college, and having access to their library, I had a health need to research the mind/brain function, and this is what I found.

Located in the skull of humans is a brain, containing numerous cells or compartments that produce the chemicals needed for body function...The spirit, being mind thoughts, activates the proper cells in the brain, for the functioning of what we decide the body needs...

Our first deciding thoughts, if repeated twenty-one times, become computed into our subconscious mind, and with continued use, is then used without thought. This repeated action is how we learn skills, habits, good or bad, and if continued without self control become addictions.

We are part of the universe which operates on a 21 day cycle, and our thoughts/mind activates the brain cells that produce the results of our thoughts. We continue to grow or evolve with the universe. What we desire must be pictured in the mind so the brain can react to those thoughts. And this is how those who choose to be wealthy and are willing to work towards their goals achieve them. We can keep healthy the same way by always thinking healthy, and having the self control not to eat and do unhealthy acts.

I am 87 years young, take no medication, and do all my housework, and still drive. I have applied what I have researched, It works for me, and it can work for everyone who is willing to think differently.

Working with a group is great because statistics show that people who have support, including attending group meetings, always do better than those who don't - 100% of the time.

This group is great for professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, those who want to start their own business and anyone who has a dream and wants support in making it happen. And the good news is you can do it over the phone from the convenience of your own home or office.
