Welcome to Living Out Your Dreams. In this issue, I attempt to clarify some of the controversy and mysticism around the popular DVD and book called "The Secret." I also provide some tips on how to have the Law of Attraction work more for you so you can create the life you desire.
In a prior edition, I asked about what teleclass topics you would like to see in the future. Many were popular. I am going to start with the topic that has been requested the most lately both in my groups and by individual clients. That is about releasing the fear and anxieties associated with public speaking or presentations. Whether you need to present more effectively to people on a one-to-one basis or in large groups, you will find this program quickly and easily helps you become a more effective public speaker by getting out of your own way. More information is provided below or visit my website to sign up.
Best wishes in living out your dreams.

The Secret Controversy
By Stacey Mayo, MCC
There has been much publicity around the Secret lately. This is the popular movie and book about the Law of Attraction. Those of you who have been on my list a while know I talked about and offered teleclasses on the Law of Attraction for a long time before the movie came out. Some of the recent publicity has been very positive with endorsements from people such as Oprah and Larry King. Other publicity and conversations have been more critical of the subject. Really this should not be surprising.
For those of you who are not familiar, the Law of Attraction states that whatever we focus our energy, attention and emotions on is what we get more of, wanted or unwanted.
There are 2 points I want to bring out today:
(1) Part of the reason there is so much controversy around this principle which has been around under various names for longer than any of us has been alive, is because it actually goes against that which our culture teaches. Most of us learned that you have to struggle to survive, let alone get anywhere in life and that mon-ey doesn't grow on trees and that you have to work hard so you can retire and then have a good life.
Culturally, the media typically inundates us with examples of this and so we are surrounded by this message of struggle and hard work everywhere in our lives. So much so that these messages are now engrained in the cells of our body.
No wonder there is so much controversy around it. It is natural to resist that which goes against what we have learned, especially if it helped us to be successful.
Of course, you can be successful with lots of hard work and perseverance. And it depends on your definition of success. My definition of success has changed over the years. I have to enjoy what I am doing to consider myself successful and have a sense of ease with it. And the larger my company gets, the more important that is to me. And I have always stated that success is not just in the wealth, but also in great relationships and our spiritual and emotional lives.
(2) Those who are criticizing "the Secret" are also oversimplifying it. Perhaps because they do not understand it fully. The Law of Attraction is NOT about sitting on the couch and eating bon bons after visualizing what you want. As I state in my Living Your Dreams workbook, four things have to be in alignment for you to attract what you desire:
your thoughts,
your words,
your emotions,
and your actions.
Yes, action is still a part of the equation. But it is about taking action that feels right and aligning with it rather than forcing something that does not feel right to you.
So as you look at your life today, write down one thing that you want that has not come into fruition yet and complete these four statements with regard to that desire.
Your desire: ____________
Most often what I think about ________
Most often what I say about _________
Most often what I feel about ________
Most often what I do about _________
Notice if any of your answers are inconsistent with your desire. And then take steps to change it.
Because the Law of Attraction is so different from what most of us learned growing up, it takes lots of practice and support to make it a way of life.
Be on the lookout for a new, very affordable program that we will be bringing out in the near future to support you to integrate this law into your life on a daily basis. I have partnered with many of the masters to bring you the best tools, advice and support in a way that is accessible 24/7. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming announcements.

Effective Public Speaking: Overcome Fears and Anxieties
Public speaking is ranked among the number one fear for people around the world. For many years, I had a lot of anxiety around public speaking. My voice would crack and tremble, I wouldn't look directly at my audience and I was very anxious about forgetting some of the points I wanted to make. I took public speaking classes and participated in Toastmasters and all of that helped some, but the thing that helped me the most was releasing the fears and anxieties through energy work called Emotional Freedom Technique.
Since using this technique, my voice is clear and strong, I am more connected with my audience, the words flow out of me naturally and I get excellent feedback on my presentations.
I have helped many clients with this over the years. You too can do this by releasing the fears that are in the way of you being your authentic self in front of a group - whether it's a presentation to one person or a room full of people.
If you are ready to let go of the fear and anxieties getting in the way of you making the best presentations you can, join me for this 2 part tele-course. Visit my site for more information and to sign up.
