THEME FOR THE YEAR.. What WAS it? What WILL it be?
SO, let me ask you.... I thought about this question the other day and posted it on my board at ivillage for others to respond. Here is the question that has ME really thinking:
Q: What was your THEME this past year? If you had to describe the WAY you lived your life this past year, what words would you use?
Hmmmmmmm. The idea here is to pick one to five words that NAIL you to a tee. Be honest. We are looking for words that accurately describe how you lived last year, not how you WANTED to live..
For example, your theme could've been "Struggling", or "Transition", or "Extreme Self Care", or "Organization", or "Simplification", or "Getting By", or "Problems", or "Financial Windfall", or "Reducing Debt", or "Out of Balance", or "Authenticity", or "Nurturing Relationships", or even "I do not know"...(which in this case, your THEME word might be "Aimless Wandering/No Plan")
I want you to pinpoint the way you lived your life this year with 1-5 words. Be honest. Be kind. Be tough. Be real. I want you to choose words that absolutely fit you to a tee. Then, I want you to run these words past a few others and see if they agree or if they "recognize" you in a different way or with other theme words. Fun, eh?
Personally, I had to really spend time coming up with my words.. One of them would definitely be "SIMPLICITY". I simplified this year in a big way....Gave away my hot little Melrose Place-esque power suits and BAGS of other clothes that were taking up tons of space in my closet....Eliminated LOADS of paper and clutter..Weeded out certain relationships that weighed me down....etc.
Another theme word for me is "COACHATHON". I worked a lot this past year. I attracted a lot of incredibly interesting clients and saw them start businesses, move to other countries, nab IDEAL jobs, double their income, make massive dents in their debt reduction, become much more peaceful/centered, develop stronger relationships, and even act in a part on a television show. My clients are AMAZING. I've realized how much I want and love to support people toward becoming their IDEAL SELF. It is thrilling for me. But, the word "COACHATHON" does make me think....Do I really want to work SO much? Coach SO many people one on one? Honestly, No. I prefer to coach less people and reserve my energy for them rather than burn myself out trying to work with too many people. Just tellin' the truth. In October, I whittled down my practice to this smaller number of IDEAL clients and became much more selective about accepting new clients into my practice. SO, I am definitely on my way.
Here is my solution... I plan to coach MORE people and WORK less. Sound like magic? Here is part of the plan...** I will begin a new tele-group coaching format in mid January that will center around developing your PERFECT LIFE in 90 days. I predict the results will be very juicy and exciting. I hope you will join us. Email me for details.
My THEME for 2001, around work will be "HELP MORE PEOPLE WHILE WORKING LESS". What a cool job I have where I can impact lots of people, leverage my time and energy, and actually work less... Neato.
Now it is your turn. What are your theme words? After reading a couple of mine, are you inspired to HONESTLY identify your words? Feel free to email your results.
NEXT, Using your THEME WORDS for 2000, adjust your words for how you intend to live in the upcoming year.. Look at your reaction to each 2000 theme word and play with it until you come up with a theme word that will ignite a fire under you. For example, if your theme for 2000 was "TOTAL CHAOS".. perhaps, a 2001 theme could be "ORGANIZATION". Then, your plan and focus for 2001 will be ways to become so incredibly organized you actually EMBODY your theme word.
There you go! Write out your 1-5 theme words for 2000 and then create 5 new ones for 2001. I'd love to see what you come up with.. Email : Kristin@KristinCoach.com
