TOP 10 THINGS TO START OR STOP DOING
TO GIVE YOUR LIFE A DRAMATIC LIFT:

I call this my "Life Liftoff List". AS in.. 3,2,1 Liftoff!

If you master this list, you will feel a major surge of energy propel you forward in life and there will be no stopping you : )

1. SIMPLIFY

You have WAY too much stuff. Cut back my friend.. You know how to do it. Now, all you need to do is DO it. Start at home. I challenge you to fill up 5 boxes with "stuff"/junk you really do not need. Now, donate, EBAY auction it or throw it out and relish in the peaceful simplicity. I mean really, do you seriously need 7 spatulas in the kitchen? Really NEED those old, groovy 8 tracks? Get rid of some stuff this week and every week for the rest of your life. You are on your way..

2. DELEGATE

This is not a contest. You do not have to DO everything or every little action in your life in order to "win." You are INVITED to "cheat" and hand out some of your duties to your helpers. I always laugh when a client says.. "Well, I have to run an errand, pick up my drycleaning, scrub the toilet, run to the store, get my oil changed,paint the spare bedroom, etc" (and run a major corporation). Why oh why do you feel you MUST do everything that ends up on your to-do list? DELEGATE. Hire a highschooler to run errands 2-3 days a week. Ask her to get your oil changed, pick up some groceries, run to the drycleaner's, etc.. For $8-10 an hour, you will get a ton of relief and she will make some extra money.. It is a good deal for both. PICK 5 things you will permanently delegate out this week and begin.. OR, think about hiring a Virtual Assistant. I love mine (thanks Jackie!).

3. BE SELF "FULL"

Are you doing things that serve YOU? Consider yourself more frequently. It is ok and recommended to be selfish in a healthy way. You must take care of yourself first so you have energy for others. This week, get rid of 1 major activity that does not serve you in any positive way (but you do anyway out of guilt). Give up the guilt and give up the activity. Get started.

4. GET YOUR "OOOOOOOOOOMMMM ON"

Meditate regularly. You can skip the "ooooming" if you would like. This ooommm thing is really just a very basic, primal sound that is healing for the body. Here is the best way to meditate. Take 5-20 minutes each day this week to sprawl out on the floor with a wet washcloth over your eyes. Pretend you are a corpse and lie veryyyyy still. Now, let your mind wander and focus on moving any extraneous thoughts out of your mind. This is a great way to quiet your mind. Yes, Yes, Yes, I know you've tried this MANY times and you cannot sit still long enough to make this work. Well, try again.. How hard
is it to be totally still anyway? I challenge you to do it. One of my clients locks herself in the closet for 15 minutes each day to meditate. YOU can find a quiet space if you really try. How about in the car?

5. SET AND ENFORCE BOUNDARIES

What the heck are your boundaries? Ever tried to list them out? List out your top 10 boundaries this week. How far is TOO far? Where are your boundaries being violated right now? Handle those.

6. "CENTER ME" DAYS

How often do you take time to recharge? One of my clients takes a "Center Me" day each week. This is when she withdraws from her normal routine and re-fuels herself and finds her "center." Sometimes she reads a book by the lake. On other days, she plans to exercise and sit in the sun.. The key here is to take time on a regular basis to focus on YOU. Personally, I take one day a week to do this.. I would wither like a wilted, parched flower without this time to recharge. If you feel edgy, cranky, depleted, or overloaded, chances are you are STARVED for a time out. Take a "Center Me" Day this week.

7. LET GO AND LET BE

You've heard it a million times.. "let things go"..."don't worry so much".. etc. Are you sick of hearing this? How on earth do you "let go" anyway? How about simply "letting things be" instead. In other words, let's say you are up for a promotion at work.. You could obsess about it. Worry about it. Pace back and forth over it. OR, you could simply "let it be." In other words, stop trying to control things. Instead, understand that all you can really control and manage is YOUR intention and effort. You cannot and never will be able to control the outcome. You may or may not get that promotion..
So, do your best on the interview and then TRUST that the best outcome for YOU will happen..Move on to something else while you wait for the decision. No obsessing required.

8. WHOAAAAAA NELLY, SLOW THE HECK DOWN

You sure are in a hurry. Where ya goin'? Have you ever noticed that some people are in a perpetual state of hurriedness? Hmmm, could YOU be one of those people? Have you been SCANNING this newsletter and not fully reading it? Here is a major lesson I've learned.. Being rushed and hurried is a great way to sabotage yourself. OPPORTUNITIES and LIFE CLUES are subtle, oftentimes. You do not want to miss a thing, do you? So, slow the heck down. Slowing my life down by setting a more manageable pace for myself and my lifestyle has served me reallllllllllly well. How could YOU slow down this week?

9. ERADICATE ENERGY DRAINS

Another favorite topic. Where do you get your energy? Adrenaline, coffee, sugar, deadlines? What sucks up your energy? Adrenaline, coffee, sugar, deadlines? Funny how that is, eh? The trick is to identify sources of energy that do not have that evil double edged sword. In other words, look for energizers that ONLY energize you and do not drain you. This way, you will gain some momentum with your energy. REMOVE the energy drains first. CUT out sugar and coffee for starters. STOP procrastinating and get rid of the deadline drain. Now, introduce guaranteed energizers such as daily exercise, eating well, and walks outside. If you are not getting what you want in life, chances are your energy is not at an optimal level. RAISE your energy and you will ELEVATE the level of success and fulfillment you create in your life.

10. OXYGENATE

Are you breathing? You think so, eh? I have a theory about this.. I think lots of people have yucky, stale air inside of them. You kind of know it if you do. I remember when I first started taking a yoga/dance class where the teacher asked us to take what seemed like an eternity..to "take in the fresh air and push out the stale air".. Huh? Do I really have to try this hard to breathe? Doesn't stale air know when to leave my body? But now, whenever I feel STUCK in life, I take time to BREATHE out the stale air and breathe in the fresh air. I do this on a regular basis and it makes a difference. I've also tried this technique with clients whenever they sound "stuck" or unable to move forward for some reason.. TRY IT. Take a deep breath and try to see if you can fill you whole body with air, next push all of the air out of your body and visualize yucky, stale, unhealthy air moving out of you. Do this for a minute or so. You will feel so much better.

4. LIFEWORK/Try This

Try this...Take a sheet of paper. Now, draw a vertical line down the center of the paper to divide it in two halves. On the left side, write "TO DO". On the right side, write "LET GO/LET BE". Now, on the left side, make a list of all of the things you have to do for the week, only listing things YOU can manage and control (errands, specific actions etc). On the right side, make a list of all of the things you want to "let go/let be" (see FEATURE article). On this side you are listing things such as "get promotion", "make more money", "win the marathon", etc. These are things you WANT to happen but you cannot exactly control. You also do not want to obsess about it. One of the BEST WAYS to prevent ATTRACTING something great in your life (such as getting the promotion, making more money etc) is to NEED it too much. You must set your goals FREE for them to want to come to you.. HOLDING on to them too tightly will crush them.

SO, now that you have both lists complete..tear the list in half and only carry the TO DO list with you. The LET GO/LET BE list can be thrown away (yes). By writing all of those items down, you've now put it out to the Universe and allowed all of your dreams the space to breathe and come find you when the timing is right. It will be sooner than you think : )
