"It is yourself that must constantly be transforming. You cannot bring the same stale self to the world and expect the world to be new for you."

3. Feature Article - ARE YOU STALE?
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I ran across this incredible quote that inspired me to write this article. First of all, I love Deepak Chopra. Read ANY of his books, if you have not already. Here is what the brilliant man said...
"It is yourself that must constantly be transforming. You cannot bring the same stale self to the world and expect the world to be new for you."
-- Deepak Chopra
How true is that? Are you STALE? If you were bread, would you have moldy green edges? Are you really a crunchy crouton when you'd much rather be a soft, delectable piece of freshly baked bread with so many more options? I mean really, croutons have limited range. But a piece of fresh bread can do soooo many things. Many of us are croutons, or moldy bread, aren't we? Sometimes, I hear friends talk about how they want the world to be "new for them," so to speak...They want things to change. Yet, they have no idea how to make this happen.
Here is the way. CHANGE YOURSELF FIRST. Your world will change when YOU change. It is as simple as that. If you feel stale, try your darndest to freshen up a bit. Dust yourself off.
If there is something you WANT in life, ask yourself this...
"How do I need to develop as a person in order to naturally attract what I want?"
That is truly the only question you need to concern yourself with when it comes to change. How can YOU develop yourself so that you will turn yourself into a magnet for anything you want...? Hmmm?
One of my coaching friends has an interesting view on life. Whenever she hears someone say they "want" something, she immediately thinks "well, not enough. You do not desire it enough otherwise you'd have it..."
Is that all it takes? Do you simply have to DESIRE change or DESIRE something in order for it to manifest? Could you put on your DESIRE cap and throw vibes out to the world that you realllllllllllllllllllllllllly, I mean realllllllllllllly want that cool new car? Will the car magically manifest as a result?
Well, maybe it will, or maybe not. The thing about DESIRE is that it points us in the direction of our development. If you WANT something, chances are you'd be willing to do whatever it takes, develop yourself in whatever way, in order to get what you want. So, DESIRE is really motivating. It tends to kick our butts into gear.
So, if you DESIRE and DEVELOP yourself, you'll have a winning combo. The key is to not pass on the DEVELOPING part. Sitting in the lotus position on your kitchen floor while you chant and meditate on what you DESIRE is really not enough. You must DEVELOP, too.
You absolutely MUST develop yourself, if you want to upgrade your life. Your stale, musty self has limited range. It can only attract stale, musty stuff your way. Make sense?
I always focus on this topic when I coach someone. I deliberately try to "freshen up" my clients. Some of them are mighty fresh when they show up, but they can always get fresher. We can all freshen up...And, when we do, it is amazing what FRESH, exciting stuff shows up in our lives...
Here are some easy ways to freshen up...
1. Get rid of "tolerations." Remove 50-100 irritating things from your life. Clean your closet. Set boundaries. Buy new sheets. If something bugs you, FIX it.
2. Decide WHO you want to be. Name 3 qualities you will need to have in order to EASILY attract what you want in life. Stop trying to struggle by suffering to work around your stale qualities. Figure out WHO you need to be and become it. Throw out the stale qualities. You do not need them anymore. You can reinvent yourself any time you wish....
3. Be much more childlike. Kids are the ultimate in FRESHNESS. They play. They laugh. They are fun... Spend some time with kids and you will feel much fresher, as a result.
Think about this topic during the week and look for moments when you can get rid of something STALE about yourself or your life. You will feel so much lighter as a result.
Enjoy your week!

4. Try This! Lifework

Lifework/Try This.
Do ONE thing this week that is very "un-you." If you are really controlled and nicey-nice all of the time, try cutting in line at the grocery store. Be rude. Just stay out of my lane, ok?! Or, if you are really stuck on a routine, try breaking it up this week in some way.. If you are an accountant and very conservative, maybe you could borrow your daughter's furry-topped pen and use it at work for a day...Or how about you librarians painting your nails PURPLE for the week? On the flip side, I'd like to see all of the "bad ones" out there be super nice this week...Spend time visiting with an elderly person at the park, or bake a pie for your neighbors.
