Welcome!

Welcome to all new subscribers! I hope you enjoyed the holidays as much as I did this year. I just returned from a trip to Miami where my family celebrated Christmas. I came back with a huge supply of sunglasses! The seem to sell them everywhere! I'm not sure I really need those pink ones I bought, but now that I think about it....having "rose colored lenses" does suit me well. After another year of coaching, I realize more than ever how important it is to have a positive outlook on life. The way you view the world impacts the way the world will see and respond to you. May you continue to see the world with hope, optimism, love and a rosy tint...

The New Year is a great time to set some GOALS! I get very excited about this every year since it helps me focus my thoughts on what I truly want. Goal setting is fun since it's a time to DREAM and PLAN. It's also very simple. The key is to take time to do it. To help you, I've created a printable WORKSHEET with some ideas. Print it out and take the first step in manifesting what you want, WRITE it down. (this is always the first step)

A few points to consider when setting goals:

* WRITE them down.

This is an important first step. You may think you know what you want, but until you are forced to clearly articulate it in written form, you may not REALLY be as clear as you thought. Writing a goal down helps you get crystal clear about it.

* Go for what you WANT not what you think you SHOULD do.

Everyone in the world may think you SHOULD lose weight. But, if you are happy as you are and don't want to be model thin, don't make weight loss a goal. The most effective goals are ones you WANT to do, not ones that feel like an obligation. There are plenty of goals you could make this year, so pick a few you really WANT to achieve. The excitement you have around those goals will help you realize them. Losing weight might be a goal in the future, but if it isn't something you want this year, let it go...Focus on what you DO want.

* Find the BLOCKS.

What prevents your goal from naturally happening? Achieving a goal can be as simple as REMOVING the blocks that prevent it. Always look for what's PREVENTING your goal from happening and take that route first.

* Get SUPPORT.

Find a friend, coach, or group of people willing to cheer you on. It makes things SO much easier and fun. Think about one goal you'd like to achieve this year and make sure you have the SUPPORT system in place. It will make all the difference if you do.

* Find PEOPLE who've already achieved the goal.

This goes hand in hand with SUPPORT. It's very helpful to find people who've done what you want to do. For ex: If you want to run a marathon but find yourself woefully un-athletic, find someone who was in that predicament before she ran a marathon. It will inspire you to know someone else did it. Talk with many people about your goal and ask them how they did it. Chances are, they'll want to mentor you along the way, too. People love to help.

* Don't forget to focus on how you want to BE, not just what you want to DO.

The most compelling goals are centered about YOU becoming a certain way. Try to shape your goals this way. For ex: If you want to finally organize and paint your home office this year (as a goal), think about how this action will shape YOU as a person...hmmm, well, how about this..."I'd like to BE organized and feel peaceful at home. I'd also like to BE successful with a new at-home business". Now, your goal of painting/organizing the office seems more exciting, right? Always try to link your goals to what matters most to you.
