In our previous Success Matters, I cited the success story of one client who felt defeated in her position. Once she got clear about her unique genius, she realized that a change was needed, she must take a stand for her inner peace. She landed a great job and promotion one that aligned with her brilliance.
Another client wrote me about her success story. She was forced to assess her strengths and value when her company moved to another state and she decided against relocating.
Through our work together, she re-defined success to be landing a more challenging, higher paying and more visible job. Stepping out and becoming more visible can be terrifying for some people because of limiting beliefs. These can easily be reduced or even eliminated by a few coaching exercises, designed to shift and transform your beliefs.
She was clear about her goal and was passionate about what she stood for. As a single mother, she needed to provide for the well-being of her children and be a positive role model for them.
She experienced an inner transformation by defining her unique genius her highest level of accomplishments that she enjoyed doing with excellence. Thats the real reason that she made a huge jump in responsibility, compensation, and job satisfaction.
She knew what she wanted and was clear about her value!
Align Your Life for Brilliance!
According to research with over 100 top achievers, success that is built to last requires alignment with three essential areas.
The authors describe these as meaning, thought style which is a highly developed sense of accountability, audacity, passion, and responsible optimism, and action style which is effective ways to take action.
We refer to these as focus clarity passion.
Focus relates to your life purpose, values, drivers and motivators. Which do you think is more brilliant the light from 5 light bulbs or 1 laser beam spotlight? Right. When you have a laser focus on your definition of success, your brilliance shines through, almost effortlessly.
Clarity is the area that gets people stuck most often. Why? We live in such a fast-paced, multi-dimensional world with many options that its difficult to get clear about what you want even if its picking out toothpaste which brand has the best whitening properties, flavor that you like ... oh, then theres the dental health features
!
When you get really clear about what you WANT, then the law of attraction is set into motion, and you begin to attract what you WANT.
Passion that defines what you stand for is more complex to discern. Passion can relate to a strong emotion that is driving you, such as anger or affection. In the context of this article, I define passion as a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept that inspires you to take positive action about something that you stand for.
Baby boomers are known as a generation of striving achievers who are passionate about their ideals.
There are many options for baby boomers as we redefine success: launch a business for the first time; obtain part time employment in a fun job; start a new career; secure short-term consulting projects.
The lesson is to get focus and clarity about what you stand for, and define your unique genius so you play to your strengths. As a result, you will find more meaning and fulfillment in your work life.
Once you put words to your natural strengths and learn how to put them into play each day no matter what job youre doing, you show up with a lighter and higher energy.
