PUTTING GIVING IN YOUR LIFE
The
Kenny G CD is blaring all through the house; the lights are dimmed,
and Gary
and I are wrapping presents by the twinkle of the Christmas tree
lights.
Presents, presents and more presents!! The Kleenex tissue ad says,
?
months of anticipation + 5 seconds to unwrap 1 magical
moment. Buying
presents for 27 people could be an exhausting and expensive experience
if you
want to do it that way!! We have a gift for almost everyone on our
list. We
have made it simple: Gary buys the gifts for his family and I buy for
my
family.
My
favorite gift of my lifetime was not purchased, was not home made; nor
was it
fattening! What could it be?? It was created from the heart. On my
47th
birthday my friend Sue B in Eau Claire, Wisconsin created the
TOP 47
reasons why I am glad Chere Bork is my friend.
A
few examples of those reasons included losing diamonds while camping
(yes - a
happy ending!) and my corn salsa recipe and spinach tortellini soup
recipes;
and crying at everything and anything. I got teary eyed and goosebumps
as I
could feel her kind words. One of my favorites was, you are
probably
crying as you are reading this! How did she know? I could not
have
felt more cherished or loved! My eyes were glistening with tears of
sincere
gratitude and love of our long time friendship. I dont think I
ever
told Sue that list was the best present of my life ever she
knows
now!! Hey, Sue, are your eyes glistening as you read this? I am
wishing you a
Christmas that is less about gifts and more about giving thanks to
those
special people in your life who give you goosebumps!

Make a list of the top 10 accomplishments in 2004 that you are most
proud of.
(You can e-mail me a copy!)
2.
Make a list of the mistakes, regrets, things you wish you hadn't done
or said
in the past year. Clean up these mistakes if it is appropriate.
3.
Make a list of the top 5 people who most made a difference in your
life this
year. Let these people know about it in some way.
4.
Promise yourself not to think about January until December 26. Enjoy
the
magic of the season.

5 THINGS
YOU CAN
DO IN DECEMBER TO TASTE LIFE
- Say no once a day to anyone or anything that
doesnt jazz up your holiday heart. (You know
these
people and things!)
- Mindfully enjoy the twinkle of your
Christmas tree
in a darkened room with your favorite Christmas CD
playing.
- Go to bed at 11:00 pm Sunday through
Thursday to be
your best sizzlin self!!
- Feel your weather. Be in touch with it.
Is
it snowing sideways? Is it drizzling diagonally? Is the sunshine
so
bright it is making your heart shine?
- Savor your holiday cards by reading them to
the
sounds of Christmas music and drinking a cup of your favorite tea
while
sitting down in your favorite chair.
5-INGREDIENT
RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Pumpkin Flan
This
flan is rich in beta carotene without the fat and calories of
traditional
pumpkin pie. The crust would add 80 more calories and 6 grams of fat
for each
serving. Some studies have suggested that one serving of beta carotene
can
decrease your risk of breast cancer by 10%. I bake this when my
sweet
tooth is talking to me! It really starts talking Thanksgiving
week.
Does yours?
1
cup granulated sugar
3 egg whites, beaten and 1 egg yolk
1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1-15 oz can canned pumpkin
1 cup evaporated skim milk
Combine
sugar, eggs and spices. Beat well. Blend in canned pumpkin. Add milk
and beat
well. Pour into greased 9-inch pie plate or flan pan. Bake at 450¡
F for
10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350¡ F for 40 45 minutes. Flan
is done
when knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Yield:
8 servings.
